Planting the winning plot at RHS Hyde Hall

On 17th March, 26 children from Ivy Chimneys Primary school enjoyed planting the winning plot design of the Packed Lunch Plot Competition 2015.

The Packed Lunch Plot competition was launched in September 2012 and invites primary school children to design a small plot and invent a recipe for a packed lunch using the produce.

There were many great prizes up for grabs, including £1000 worth of gardening equipment for their school, RHS training for teachers and the chance to plant the winning plot at RHS Hyde Hall.

Ivy Chimneys Primary School in Epping were the overall winners, with an entry by year 2 pupil, Scarlett.

Out of hundreds of entries, Scarlett’s was chosen as overall winner because of its good choice of produce and attractive and fun plot design.

Pupils from Scarlett’s school enjoyed an action-packed day at Hyde Hall, where they each played a part in preparing and planting the plot.  The plot is on view for the public to see and the school is already arranging a trip for classmates to go back and check on its progress!
